Over the weekend, I took a trip and picked up some new music. I finally got HIM's Dark Light on vinyl, which is a super rare vinyl! I also picked up the new Morbid Angel album that was released in 2011, Illud Divinum Insanus. I think it is a killer album! While not being like their other albums like Covenant, i praise them for trying something new and taking a chance with new ideas!
I also picked up Back in Blood by The 69 Eyes. The 69 Eyes have always held a special part in my musical life because they are so different from any other glam rock band of the modern-ish age. Jyrki 69's voice has a mesmerizing feel to it, making you lose yourself in his lyrics. The simplicity of the music at times is also a very refreshing break from typical metal!
Satyricon is one black metal band that no matter what they do, I will love! I discovered them through their "Now, Diabolical" album, which is their most critically praised album. When i saw their Age of Nero album on sale, I couldn't pass it up! The raw energy of the album is astounding and it really makes you get into the album.
I own the entire Cradle of Filth Discography (other than the unholy trinity of demo's). I love CoF a ton and I am trying to acquire all of their deluxe editions of their albums and such, so that's why I picked up Nymphetamine's deluxe edition. While the album is not loved by a lot of the bands long time fans, who are more interested in the bands sound during the "Cruelty and the Beast" era of the band, I still believe it is a solid album. I was introduced to Cradle of Filth through their Thornography album, which most fans don't even consider a CoF album, so to me, Nymphetamine is a healthy mix between their old and new sounds!
